Laurel County Sheriff John Root pulled a car over on North Laurel Road resulting in two drug arrests. The driver, 32-year-old Gentry Lee Jones of Lily, was found to be operating on a suspended license. During the roadside investigation Sheriff Root was joined by K-9 Deputy Jake Miller and Bailiff Paige Vanhook, who found Jones and passenger, 39-year-old Rachel Doan of London, in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Jones also had a syringe. Both were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Jones was also charged with operating on suspended or revoked license and failure to wear seatbelts. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out to the intersection of Highway 192 and Cherry Grove Road to investigate a suspicious vehicle. Officers arrived to find a 44-year-old David Lafavers of Somerset sleeping in a Jeep. Police say they also found a handgun, syringes in a backpack, possible meth and digital scales inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed Lafavers was convicted on an unrelated felony charge in 2016. Lafavers is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says K-9/Shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Deputy Hunter Disney, Deputy Dustin Saylor and Deputy Brent France were called out to a business parking lot off Highway 312 where two men were reportedly passed out in a vehicle. Deputies arrived to find 25-year-old Kylen Lovett of Barbourville and 37-year-old Christopher George of McKee apparently passed out in a car. Officers had to make several attempts to wake the men up. During the investigation deputies found a loaded syringe determined to contain fentanyl. Lovett had an uncapped hypodermic needle in a back pocket. George had a United States Marshal badge attached to his belt and a 9MM handgun. George was found to be a convicted felon and had a Laurel County warrant for drug trafficking. Later, while being processed at the jail, officers found meth on him. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
