In this interview, translators Jenna Tang and May Huang discuss their experiences translating contemporary literature in Chinese from Taiwan and Hong Kong. Their conversation touches on the diversity within the Chinese language, translating work that resists compartmentalization, publishing houses in the US and in East Asia, and breaking into the translation world as BIPOC women. Berlinale To Host Physical Screenings For International Buyers In Japan, Australia, Brazil & Mexico; Books At Berlinale Line-Up Unveiled Deadline 2/3/2021
With international buyers unable to travel to Germany to scout movies at year’s Berlin International Film Festival, the event will instead bring a selection of titles from its program to them through new initiative ‘EFM goes global’.
Four cities will host physical buyers screenings of pics from the festival – Tokyo for the Asian market, Melbourne for Oceania, São Paulo for South America, and Mexico City for Central America. The fest said the cities were selected because they have high density of national distribution companies. It is partnering with established industry partners including festivals, cinemas and film institutions for infrastructure support.
National Taichung Theater touts tech, wide appeal in upcoming festival

Taipei, Jan. 12 (CNA) The National Taichung Theater will walk the fine line between technology and art, with 10 programs covering a wide range of topics, in the Taiwan International Festival of Arts presented in the central city, according to its General and Artistic Director Joyce Chiou (邱瑗).
The festival, Chiou said in a press conference on Tuesday, is aimed at becoming a platform by which artists can realize their imaginations, and she welcomed the public to the annual spring event, saying that if you enter the theater, you ll certainly be thrilled!
