A TOP athlete battled hot temperatures and stiff competition as he returned to ‘live’ racing in the Cheshire Elite Marathon. Martin Green, a member of the North Wales Road Runners Club, was among 275 high-calibre entrants invited to compete in one of the first few live endurance runs permitted after the partial lifting of strict pandemic restrictions for outdoor sports events. Run over a fast and flat lapped course on rural roads around Pulford, the race on Sunday, April 25 incorporated the former Wrexham Elite Marathon, with entry only available to male athletes capable of running 2.40 or quicker for a marathon, and female athletes running a sub three-hour time.

NN MISSION MARATHON PUSHED BACK – The special all-elite NN Mission Marathon, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 11, in central Hamburg, has been pushed back a week to April 18, due to status of the pandemic in that area of Germany. In addition, race organizers need to move the race to another location. Frank Thaleiser, the managing director of event organizer MHV Running Events, said through a news release: “Of course we were quite disappointed at first, but we can understand the decision given the current situation. We are now putting all our efforts into the realization of the event at a different location and are optimistic that we will find a solution.” World record hol
