Bill Apter on Mark Henry signing with AEW: “I’ve known Mark since he started…I think this is an amazing move and I think that WWE was probably caught by (surprise)… They are branching out into more shows – Rampage (is coming – they’re going to keep doing things. They’re going to be doing special videos, special segments with these broadcasters; I have a feeling Mark Henry will be a backstage general. He’ll be a coach and a broadcaster. I think having he and the former Big Show Paul Wight together doing broadcasting – that’s going to be another team that people will talk about for years.”

Bill Apter on the heat between Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan: “I think the main crux of (it) was that Tony wanted to get out of the business at that point. Things just weren’t palatable to him anymore in WCW. The people that were running it and (him) just didn’t see (eye to eye). He was fed up with everything (at that point). It wasn’t just Bobby Heenan. I think Tony at that point wanted to be (done) and wanted out. He was driven out of that business with politics and contractual things… now he’s back and stronger than ever.”

When you’re a rookie coming up in the old days, it wasn’t easy. They didn’t come back there and pat you on the back and say ‘great job, kid.’ They rode (you). They told you what you did wrong.”
