The largest vaccination site in Palm Beach County, the South Florida Fairgrounds, opened on Wednesday.People can still sign up for vaccination appointments through the statewide online vaccination appointment registration system. Currently, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County is using the rest of the 60,000 names on the countywide registration list for appointments at the fairgrounds. Health leaders say it will take another four to 6 weeks to get through the name on the county list. It s too late to sign up on the county list for vaccination appointments.South Florida Fairgrounds leaders remind people that they cannot sign up for vaccination appointments using the fairgrounds office.The parking lot people use to enter the vaccination site is off of Weisman Way inside of the fairgrounds, near the intersection of Weisman Way and Fairgrounds Road.Once inside, staff direct cars to the parking lot next to the vaccination site. Hundreds of people in the Valencia Reserve neighborhood in Boynton Beach are upset at what they say is the unauthorized construction of a nearly half-mile lake and other structures in their agricultural preserve, which they say will lead to flooding, loud noise, and lower property values.County leaders have issued stop-work orders and notices of violation against this construction.However, the developers say the construction is permitted under state law.“Our community here of about 2,000 residents is outraged,” said Jeffrey Schepp, the acting president of the Valencia Reserve Homeowners Association. Hundreds protested outside of the construction site on Monday, calling on the developers to stop construction and for county leaders to take additional steps to put a stop to the construction. “The agricultural preserve that we moved into is not being preserved,” said Cindee Cohen, who lives in Valencia Reserve.“I felt safe and now I don’t and I feel this has been ripped
WPBF 25 News has learned new details about the upcoming statewide online vaccination appointment registration system that is expected to launch in the coming weeks. The state is actively collaborating with counties and local officials to launch a system that will include a streamlined vaccination appointment process, said Samantha Bequer, the press secretary for the Florida Division of Emergency Management. This will be an opt in system for counties that want to utilize it and is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Additional details will be released as we get closer to the launch date.
