Although they have been actively involved with the local homeless community for the past four years, non-profit company Katlego’s Hand officially launched their hub for the homeless in Industrie Street on Saturday 12 March.

There were four gardens there that were in quite a bad state of disrepair, and we got stuck in there and it involved a lot of activity.

Removing of rubbish, removal of dead plants, we brought in some rocks to make it beautiful some of the grass had to be mowed. We literally had a truck full of rubbish that we discarded from there.

Cape Town - A Kuils River community project is blossoming, with hopes rising that a new flower and plant garden will create a ripple effect and inspire others in the neighbourhood.
The project, started about a month ago on the corners of Amandel and Kerk roads in Kuils River, is the brainchild of resident Wouter de Vos who took notice of complaints about neglected spaces in the Kuils River area on social media.
“I decided to get these concerned citizens on board to make a positive contribution and difference to our community. The process has since then started to grow into a life of its own as the space we used grew.
