former trump campaign manager corey lewandowski says he answered all relevant questions for the house intel committee on thursday. the top democrat on the committee disagrees. let s discuss with democratic congressman mike quigley of illinois, a member of the house intel committee. good to have you, sir. what do you believe corey lewandowski should talk about that he refused to? well, at least three questions he wouldn t answer, his conversations with the president about firing director comey, the meeting at trump tower and the potential firing or attempts to fire inspector mueller. so those are pretty pertinent. it s hard to imagine a criminal trial in which witnesses get to provide lists of questions provided by someone else that we can or can t answer. that s what happened with mr. bannon. that s what happened yesterday with mr. lewandowski. what was his basis for not
den different family that familt phenomenon that yesterday. those are the facts. steve bran none so broad and wide reportedly, there were a lot of things he wouldn t answer and so there might be the push not just from democrats but from your friends as you call them across the political aisle to bring him back even maybe under subpoena. talk to me about what you expect this next few weeks or months. stuart says you might wrap it up in the next few weeks. what is the end game here. my hope for the end game is that we in fact can get to a southwest recommendations and offer the measures to protect ourselves in the 2018 election. i frankly have quite some time ago given up hope that the majority members are going to really seek it to its conclusion. they seem to be more interested in getting it over than in getting it right. and i think that s unfortunate. harris: do you have taxpayers to account to. it s been millions of dollars, you know, across
done improperly but that information ended up coming directly from the white house. he recused himself. how can he do this if he s already recused himself from the russia investigation. well, clearly, he didn t recuse himself and clearly he s taking his marching orders from the white house. during the meeting in which the republicans voted to release this memo, he was asked by one of his colleagues, have you or your staff been in contact with the white house. have they been a part of this and he wouldn t answer the question which tells you everything we need to know about this memo, its origins and intent and how political this is. the fact he wouldn t answer that he s been getting his marching orders from the white house. his staff has been in contact with the white house. i worked on a congressional oversight committee that dealt with depositions and subpoenas and e-mails. no way a staff would put together this kind of report without the explicit knowledge and direction of the chai
there is real evidence. the question is whether the entire narrative about president trump and russia was made up to cover up the collusion between democrats and russia, and that s what the evidence seems to be pointing to. it is why we are asking the question. we don t have the answers. that s one of the reasons why we are bringing mr. rosenstein tomorrow to the judiciary committee and we hope he will give us answers because the attorney general and fbi director, they didn t give us answers but they don t think the american people deserve to know whether they are taxpayer money was used to discredit the sitting president. i think the american people do deserve to know and that s why we are pressing on. bret: congressman jordan. that s exactly right for a jeff sessions wouldn t answer our questions. christopher wray wouldn t answer our questions. hopefully mr. rosenstein will be better. we were going to press him just as hard. this is the judiciary committee. primary responsibility
i think that s the principle at work. how we got that dramatic story about jeff sessions last week. similar principle appeared to be at work. again congressman adam schiff came from behind eight hours of testimony closed door hearing where he made announcement, told reporters there was something important that donald trump jr. wouldn t answer in his questioning today. according to congressman schiff, donald trump jr. today wouldn t answer a question that might have been most important one he was there to answer today and the reason he wouldn t answer is absolutely dumbfounding. neither donald trump, the president, nor donald trump the junior is a lawyer. but according to adam schiff, donald trump jr. is refusing to answer questions about
