thursday, january the 18th. steve: all right. here s where we are starting. border backlash, more than a dozen democrats now speaking out against top democrat joe biden s border policies. what s that about? well, one democrat is turning the table on republicans in the meantime, calling on them to push to remove the statue of liberty. what? ainsley: brian, that s when you say ugh! brian: ugh! ainsley: ron desantis moving campaign workers to south carolina but insists he is not done making his case in new hampshire. we went to south carolina and knocked out a couple of events and did what we planned to do in new hampshire. that was caricature to skipping new hampshire when it wasn t. brian: no, it shows he is fighting another day regardless of how new hampshire comes out. and he ll be back after being detained. while arnold schwarzenegger was held by customs for hours at munich airport according to some located in germany. the second hour of fox & friends starts r
charges like this often have cascading effects and as you mentioned, the president s facing at least three other potential criminal investigations into his conduct right now. whichever way these charges go and hopefully we ll be privy to all of them in the next 15 minutes or so, how might this strengthen or weaken the former president s hand in those other key cases? i think that s a great question on the politics side of things. not on the legal side of things. you know, i don t think any of these district attorneys or the special counsel are interacting saying you go first, no, you go first, or i m ready to go. that s not how it works behind the scenes. but it is the case that this went first and it may be the thinnest gruel of them all in the end. by going first does it paint others with this, you know, an aura of it s all political and the answer is yes from the former president, he s going to use it to say it fits with the entire narrative of russia russia russia, and
midterm vote count. how you feel about the president, the economy, how excited you are to vote spells giant trouble for the democrats and giant opportunity for republicans. plus, some new cnn reporting on the behind the scenes battle between senators mitch mcconnell and rick scott over who should get more credit or more blame for how the senate shakes out after the midterms and an interrogation. other targets, new horrific details about the assailant who bludgeoned the speaker of the house s husband until he was unconscious. mr. pelosi asked to go to the bathroom which is where he was able to call 911 from his cell phone. the defendant realizing that mr. pelosi had called 911 took mr. pelosi downstairs near the front door of the residence. two police officers arrived at the front door two minutes after that 911 call. up first for us, though, a final snapshot of the midterm climate and it is beyond bleak for the democrats. let s set the stage, remember, republicans need on
floors below where this shot is being taken for the last while when he went into the courthouse being processed. that would involve fingerprinting. we were told it would not include having a mug shot taken. after that processing is complete, he ll make his way up here. looks like we still have a few minutes, nothing is imminent here, i wouldn t think, but we are getting closer to court and then make his way up here for the actual arraignment. bryan is live outside the courthouse, and we may need to put a button on you quickly if we see the former president come through, but you are out there among a crowd of media, police, supporters and protestors, what s the scene like? yeah, it s calm. there s a hushed silence, as much hushed silence, it s as quiet as they have been. about 200 people, i would say, bystanders, people here just to see the spectacle and pro trump and anti-trump people who have come out to see what s going on. i want to give you a sense, there is outside the courthous
independents grade him very poorly, only 38% approve. 62% disapprove. does he have the right priorities, only 30% say he does. are things going well in the country, only 24% of independents say yes, 76% say no. that is a giant challenge if you re trying to win these very close competitive races across the country. what do you do? well, so a few things i would note. first if you look at which i thought was interesting is people rating their own economic situation, actually more positively than they feel about the country and there you see the partisan gap really shrink so when people are rating the economy of the country you see a real partisan split but democrats and republicans feel a little more optimistic about their own economic situation. i think there s an opportunity there to talk about things that are going well, things that are improving, things that were better than a couple years ago and what our plan is for next and talk about optimism and i think i also wouldn t think
