After a tepid 2020, 2021 has started in a very good way for Volvo as in the first month of the year the Swedish brand’s sales rose by 30.2 percent compared to January 2020.
Although Volvo’s sales were not particularly strong a year ago (down by 9 percent compared to 2019), this doesn’t diminish its success last month, when it shifted 59,588 vehicles, recording the best January in its history.
This result came thanks to strong sales in all of its major markets, but mostly in China, where deliveries nearly doubled as the country recovered from last year’s COVID-19 shutdowns. As the marque’s biggest market, China’s increase will be a relief to the brand’s accountants. Additionally, Volvo sales also rose in both Europe (9%) and the U.S. (32%).
