The death of Thomas "Tank" McAuliffe is only the most recent in a string of tragedies at Sterling Stamping and other Detroit area auto plants during the pandemic.
Kentucky, with a population of 4.5 million, recently reached the grim milestone of over one million total cases, and 12,687 have died. On Friday, 15,864 new cases and 28 deaths were recorded in the state.
As of Friday morning, at least 140 workers at the plant were out sick, and a worker whose wife tested positive was allegedly instructed by management to report to work.
