World Social Media Day has been in effect since 2010.
It was created by
Mashable – a super popular international entertainment, culture, tech, science and social good digital media platform and entertainment company.
WSMD was introduced as a way of recognising the impact that social media has had on communications around the world.
Local digital agency Esirom has taken on the role of highlighting the event as part of their CSR, and in efforts to covering for everyone near and far, all things social media in 2021.
