At the Huawei VoLTE Pro Summit that took place alongside the recent Mobile World Congress Shanghai, telecoms professionals delivered a strong message that calls for stakeholders in the mobile industry to embrace voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) as quickly and as broadly as they can, to reap the rewards of the advances in mobile telecoms technologies.
VoLTE has made great strides in supporting mobile operators throughout the world to migrate users from 2G and 3G to 4G and 5G, not the least thanks to the technology s advantages in higher voice quality and voice-data concurrence capability. As a result, operators are able to gradually sunset their 2G and 3G networks, and to re-farm the frequencies and cell sites used by 2G and 3G for new mobile generations.

Huawei is backing a solar and storage-powered green energy solution for telecommunications network carriers and operators to help the sector hit net zero as soon as possible.
The technology firm unveiled its Zero Carbon Network Solution at Mobile World Congress Shanghai last week, introducing solar, storage and other digital technologies to carrier networks in order to maximise the use of clean energy and reduce carbon emissions from the telecoms sector.

Technology holds significant benefits for humanity, and digital technology can be an indispensable tool for helping the United Nations achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This was the view of Huawei senior vice president and board member Catherine Chen, in her keynote speech at the recent Connected for Shared Prosperity Forum, during the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2021.
Chen said technology could be an engine for human progress, and called on individuals and businesses to “think big and act small”, while reiterating her support of the SDGs and building a green, innovative and inclusive world.
“Large social changes tend to happen in lockstep with breakthroughs in science and technology. But today, technological advancements are hyped and politicised – as has sometimes been the case with 5G.”
