For UNHCR and our partners, the surveys also serve a critical function in planning and monitoring programmes. Analytically, survey data is especially valuable when specific topics, like education, can be cross-referenced with other household and individual characteristics, such as demographics, employment, income and access to services. This opens up opportunities for detailed analysis that is otherwise not possible. These insights are yet more powerful when matched with information from other sources, such as registration or facility records on the delivery of education, health and other basic services, or are repeated across time (panel data).

Date Time Statistics Poland and World Bank to Cooperate More Closely on Data Collection and Processing President of Statistics Poland (GUS) Dominik Rozkrut, Ph.D., and World Bank’s Development Data Group Director Haishan Fu have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to more closely cooperate in collecting, processing, and disseminating data to support evidence-based policymaking. The five-year agreement provides a framework within which both Statistics Poland and the World Bank may undertake a range of collaborative activities. It enables both organizations to share knowledge, pool expertise, and collaborate on the preparation and promotion of knowledge-sharing events, among other things.
