Holy Cross on Monday opened its new recreation and wellness center

WORCESTER – Holy Cross on Monday opened its new recreation and wellness center, a 52,000-square-foot facility that cost $32.5 million to build. The Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center is named for Joanne Chouinard-Luth, who along with her husband, 1974 alum John Luth, gave a record $40 million gift to Holy Cross six years ago that helped fund the project. “The Jo,” which is replacing the campus’s 72-year-old field house, will house the college’s club and intramural sports, as well as its recreation, fitness and wellness programs, and has features like a golf simulator and suspended running track. In addition it will be the new home of the college’s Office of Student Wellness Education, Worksite Wellness Office, and Office of Public Safety.
