Good morning. I want to call this business round table to order. I want to thank the participants for taking your time and, first of all, just working on the Homeland Security Advisory Council. From my perspective producing a really good report. A really good basis for hopefully legislation that we can pass on a bipartisan basis, but prior to that working with us to try to accomplish something to started a dressing this tremendous problem. Works committee. Its about two hours. I call this hearing to order. Todays hearing is about the need for this committee to draft and to pass a bipartisan Highway Infrastructure bill. Both Ranking Member carpers staff and my staff have been working on drafting this legislation along with all of the members of this committee. We appreciate all the input we received from our home states, from our fellow members and from transportation stakeholders. Its our shared goal to advance a bill out of the committee this summer. That means the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will be first out of the gate to pass a Highway Infrastructure bill. Its an insiders view and im the insider so im responsible for all of the viewing. Lets take a quick review of the preceding nine presentations. I could try to convince you that this all made sense. The first week we introduced some people and ended with three surprising revelations.
