HYANNIS The Kmart parking lot on Route 132 in Hyannis was practically empty Monday for the store s going-out-of-business sale.
Still, a trickle of customers made their way to the store, where huge banners proclaimed an inventory blowout.
“Everything at least 10% to 70% off lowest ticketed price” one sign read.
“Nothing held back,” another proclaimed.
What was held back was information from Kmart’s parent company, Transformco. There was no word, no reply to telephone calls or emails about the exact closing date of the national discount store in Hyannis.
The Cape store is the last Massachusetts location for the once-mighty retail giant.
