Allerdale s development panel will next Tuesday decide whether to grant outline planning permission for the construction of up to 100 new homes on land to the east of Causeway Road in Seaton. Being an application for outline permission, submitted by trustees of the Copsey Family Trust, further, more detailed plans would have to be approved before construction could begin. However, the granting of outline permission would signal approval in principle of the prospect of up to 100 new homes being built on the site.

Allerdale councillor calls for swift action to save embankment

An Allerdale councillor is calling for swift action after part of a public footpath was closed due to safety fears. A warning was put out to the public on Saturday by Allerdale council, asking people to avoid walking by the river Derwent, at Barepot after fast moving water began washing away part of the dub wall. It said: “For safety reasons, people are being urged to avoid walking by the River Derwent at Barepot in Workington, due to further damage and undermining of the river bank in the area. Council officers will assess the site on Sunday December 20 and take the necessary action to make the area safe.”
