Barre man charged in alleged racial attack in Worcester

WORCESTER – A 28-year-old Barre man has been charged with assaulting and violating the civil rights of a 65-year-old person he allegedly beat unconscious in a racially motivated attack, according to court documents.
Michael Miller of 39 North Brookfield Road, Barre, was arraigned in Worcester District Court Dec. 15 on charges of assault and battery with injury on a person age 60+ or disabled, unarmed robbery, civil rights violation with injury and disorderly conduct.
The charges stem from an alleged Nov. 25 incident shortly before midnight on Endicott Street.
According to court records, police were responding to a 911 call from a person saying he had been robbed by two men. While en route on Endicott Street, police happened upon a separate incident in which a Black male lay unconscious in the roadway.
