Kentucky State Police (KSP) received a call of a stabbing early Wednesday morning on Spruce Pine Road in the Woolum Community of Knox County. Troopers.
Woolum, KY. (June 9, 2021) – Kentucky State Police, Post 10 in Harlan received a call from Knox County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance at approximately 2 am. Troopers from Post 10 responded to the Spruce Pine Road in the Woolum Community of Knox County in response to a complaint of a stabbing.
Initial investigation indicates, Kenneth Johnson (63) of Woolum, drove his side by side ATV to his neighbor’s house, where a verbal altercation took place on the back steps of the victim’s home. The victim was stabbed by Mr. Johnson, following the incident Mr. Johnson left the scene. The victim’s wife contacted 911 for medical assistance. The victim was air lifted to UK Medical Center for life threatening injuries.

Kentucky State Police were called Sunday to assist the Knox County Sheriff’s Department with a fatal motorcycle crash. Troopers say 59-year-old James Howard was traveling on North KY 11 in the Woolum Community he ran off the road and hit a rock embankment. Woolum, KY. (May 23, 2021) at 3:52 PM Kentucky State Police, Post 10, was contacted by Knox County Sheriff’s Department in reference to assist with a fatal collision in Knox County.
Through the investigation, Trooper Wagner determined James Howard, 59 years old from Somerset, Ky. was operating a motorcycle on north KY11 in the Woolum Community and was involved in a single vehicle accident. The motorcycle he was driving went off the roadway and struck a rock embankment. Mr. Howard was pronounced deceased by Knox County Coroner’s Office.
Trooper Wagner is in charge of this collision investigation. He was assisted on the scene by Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County EMS and Richland Fire Department.
