And chalk this marriage up to a bit of serendipity.
It was Friday morning in Hobbs, and the school district’s Superintendent, T.J. Parks, was having breakfast with some pals, all former educators. Only recently have they been able to eat together again, with restaurants being available for seating.
They were discussing this and that. Eventually, the conversation swung to the football rivalry game to be played later that night between Carlsbad and Artesia. A game that wouldn’t have any fans, because of Eddy County’s “red” health status. New Mexico counties in a “red” stage cannot stage a prep sporting event with fans, either indoors or outdoors.

It wasnât easy being a redshirt freshman this year. Not when he was used to playing and helping his Roswell football team win. Not only win but win championships. After having a year to grow and develop mentally and physically as a redshirt freshman, when the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds play in the spring, look for Justin Carrasco to play every down with 100% intensity like he does everything else.
