Election Connection: Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District Board of Directors Lake Sun Staff newsroom@lakesunonline.com As the April elections draw near, the Lake Sun will be publishing a number of Q&A articles centered around races in the tri-county area.  In this edition, the candidates for the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection Board of Directors will discuss their talking point and vision for the district.  In April 2020,  voters approved increasing the number of Board of Directors from three persons to five persons. The two additional seats were not up for election until April of 2021. Below are the responses from candidates John Smiley, Laurie Preator, Robert Dye and Rick Butler. COVID-19 VACCINES ADMINISTERED IN PETTIS COUNTY

A few thousand COVID-19 vaccinations were administered in Pettis County recently. During the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force meeting on Monday, February 1, officials at the Pettis County Health Center said: “Our community provided approximately 3,000 doses of vaccine last week. The partners in providing this large number included Bothwell Regional Health Center, Woods Pharmacy, Katy Trail Community Health, AFC Urgent Care, the Missouri National Guard and the Pettis County Health Center. Additional vaccine will be distributed this week by appointment only.” Officials also say, “We understand that many people want to be vaccinated, and we are vaccinating as quickly as possible with the available supplies. If you preregistered through the Pettis County Health Center, you may be called by any of the vaccinators in the county or the VA, if eligible. Please note where and when your appointment will be. Pettis County COVID-19 Cases Decrease More Vac Clinics Set The number of coronavirus cases in Pettis County are decreasing according to Pettis County Health Center while our community vaccinated around 3,000 people last week. There was an increase of 71 COVID-19 cases in this past week and 164 cases in the past two weeks. Pettis County Health Center says while the number of positive cases are decreasing it s still important for people to be tested for the virus to make sure unknown cases do not spread throughout the community. The 3,000 vaccinations figure is a combination of vaccinations given by Pettis County Health Center, Bothwell Regional Health Center, Woods Pharmacy, Katy Trail Community Health, AFC Urgent Care, and the Missouri National Guard. Additional vaccine clinics will be held this week by appointment only.
