今年中秋節將有4天連續假期（9月18日至21日），隨著國內武漢肺炎（新型冠狀病毒病，COVID-19）疫情趨於穩定，預期民眾會有返鄉、出遊需求，台鐵局今日宣布，中秋連假疏運期間（9月17日至22日）全線加開各級列車總計126班次，並於8月20日凌晨0時起，開放民眾訂購中秋疏運期間車票。台鐵局指出，中秋連假疏運期加開列車，西部幹線總計30列次，包含自強號9列、莒光號1列、復興號8列、區間車12列；東部幹線總計81列次，包含自強號60列、莒光號3列、復興號11列；南迴線總計15列，包含自強號12列、莒光號3列。另外，東部加開的復興號中，9月18日至21日樹林－花蓮有8列復興號，將提供北宜100元、北花200元優惠票價，及9月17日、9月20日連假離峰時段加開樹林往返台東7折紅眼列車。
