SIR: I was so sorry to read of the death of cyclist, David Davenport, on the afternoon of June 8 in Woodman Lane, near Winchester. Over the years I have cycled many times along the Sarum Road to Farley Mount. Unfortunately, because the road markings at the Woodman Lane/Sarum Road junction have become virtually invisible, it is now a major hazard. In sharp contrast, the road markings at the junction of Sarum Road/Chilbolton Avenue are very clear, indicating a priority may have been given to safety on city roads over rural roads. The Woodman/Sarum junction requires urgent attention to avoid another tragedy.
