GEORGE   On July 30, Banjie Getsinger Nicholas will be the featured artist in a show of paintings, drawings and sculpture at Hedgerow Gallery in the Martinsville section of St. George. Best known for her intricately detailed renderings of nests, rocks, birds and other features of the natural world, with this show Nicholas has added three-dimensional creations that are a product of her lengthy forays into the winter woods during the coronavirus pandemic. “What I call my ‘Woodland Sculptures’ are created using several species of bracket, or shelf fungus, and decorated with mosses, birch bark, lichens, leaves and feathers,” Nicholas says. “I chose the materials, none of which are endangered, because for the most part they retain their characteristics even when dry.”
