Carole Johnson and Keith Sharp with the new exhibit
The small but fascinating museum on Woodend Road, off Barden/Greenhead Lane, hosts a collection of mining memorabilia second to none, much of it donated by local miners who still visit on a regular basis.
The displays have all been cleaned and reorganised, lighting has been improved and new items added to the collection, making the whole experience more enjoyable and informative for visitors.
A major new attraction is a full-scale working model of a Clayton Undertype Steam Wagon. The model which took thousands of hours to make, has been completely handmade by Mr Keith Sharp of Duckworth Street, Barrowford, who works at the museum, and is shown here handing it over to Carole Johnson, custodian and curator of the collection.
