Meet Central: ACC Indoor Championships

2021 COVID-19 Protocols Given present state gathering restrictions and modified operations protocols due to COVID-19, attendance at the venue will be limited to essential participants only. As is the standard at many NCAA Indoor facilities this season, this will allow for adequate social distancing for coaching staffs, participating student-athletes and meet officials. No student-athlete or staff guests will be permitted inside the facility. Select event video will stream live via ESPN ACC Network Extra, and live results are available via Adkins Timing. Fans can also access updates via official social media accounts, @ClemsonTrackXC. Other protocols include tented staging areas at the Rock Norman Outdoor Track, restrooms for each team individually, designated entry and exit points for participants, and a one-way flow of participant pedestrian traffic. Face coverings will be required by participants at all times when not actively engaged in competition.

Randal Tyson Track Center receives World Athletics certification

Shawn Price February 18, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Another milestone for the Randal Tyson Track Center came in the form of certification for the facility by World Athletics this month following recent renovations. The home to Razorback track and field becomes one of just five facilities in the United States to be certified at World Athletics’ highest standard. The other four U.S. indoor venues are in Chicago, Houston, and two venues in New York. When Arkansas hosts the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, it will mark the first time in the 55-year history of the event for it to be held on a World Athletics certified venue.

Adelaide Aquilla B1G Field Athlete of the Week

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior All-American thrower Adelaide Aquilla has been named this week’s Big Ten Conference field athlete of the week. Aquilla is the second Buckeye to be honored this season as sprinter Anavia Battle was named track athlete of the week Jan. 20. Aquilla, the defending Big Ten indoor champion in the shot put, launched the shot 17.13m/56-2 ½ to win the competition at the SPIRE B1G Invite last weekend in Geneva, Ohio. The effort was the fifth-longest throw of the indoor season nationally and it also represented Aquilla’s third win in four meets, after wins at the Simmons-Harvey Invite Jan. 16 and the Penn State Invite Jan. 23.

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – It was simply another terrific, terrific afternoon indoors at the SPIRE Institute’s Big Ten Invite for the track and field teams from Ohio State University. Eight more wins Saturday enabled the Buckeyes to secure over a third of the wins – 13 wins in 34 events – in an eight-team field that included teams from Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and Iowa. A recap of the best and the brightest from the Buckeyes: Defending Big Ten indoor champion Adelaide Aquilla is a three-time winner for the Buckeyes so far this winter. The senior lofted the shot put 17.13m/56-2 ½ to win the competition and climb into the Top 5 nationally. The event also featured Sade Olatoye taking third (16.62m/54-6 ½) and Divine Oladipo finishing fourth with a toss of 15.81m/51-10 ½.

Krissy Gear breaks mile school record as No 1 Arkansas wins team title

Shawn Price February 13, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The second day of the Tyson Invitational provided more superlatives from the No. 1 Razorbacks as they claimed a fifth consecutive team victory this indoor season while the highlight performance was a school record in the mile by Krissy Gear. Facing a field of nationally ranked teams, the Razorbacks produced another dominant team victory with 140 points, as Alabama (64) and Oregon (62) battled for the runner-up position. The rest of the field included Texas A&M (52), Texas (51), Florida (49), Florida State (42), and LSU (28). “We’re super elated,” said Razorback women’s head coach Lance Harter. “We ran our DMR to get it qualified last night, so Krissy Gear came back in the mile today and rewrote the record book with a 4:31. She just did a fantastic job.
