That went viral because libyans were amazed at the site of a senior Government Official doing mundane activities without a huge entourage and demanding vip treatment. Chris had a great knowledge of libyan history and culture. He would often crack jokes with government counter parts. Not just in arabic but in the libyan dialect, which the libyans loved to hear him speak. Another told me when i saw him in may as newly appointed ambassador in tripoli he had not changed, despite the promotion and accolades. He was the same guy. Lingering one night after dinner to help me with a difficult table, i referred to him as sir or ambassador. He looked at me for a second, he sighs and he said i wish everyone would just call me chris. He loved the work, loved the people, but he never took himself too seriously. People talk about what a good diplomat he was. He knew how to motivate others to be the same. Even those down on their careers, lost faith, in hardship. This was a tough task to inspire other
On 800 bush street and the chase ensued and taken them to Treasure Island. They laid down spikestrips and disabled the car. Suspect fled the car with a firearm in hand and went to the water and put the gun to his head, setting up a stalemate. None of the pursuing officers were cit, this being a critical incident, hostage negotiators are basically that the cit plus. So hostage negotiators behind Ballistic Shields from a distance of no more than 15 engaged the armed suspect for a period of about five hours. The suspect wanted to go back to his car. That was not permitted. He had molotov cocktail he was prepared to use and took his life with a single shot to his head. The bomb disposal took care and secured the car and Treasure Island was secured. I was told that the suspects father was at the scene, but not engaging with the son because of the obvious dynamic ahead of time. Pretty much went by our current prescription, since the suspect had no actually done any harm to anyone else at the
The Salvation Army San Francisco center is a state licensed [speaker not understood] recovery program. At any given time upwards of 200 people are here onsite, go through the program and get their life back together. Our residential capacity is 106 single adults with up to 30 families and up to 52 kids with those families. Youre not likely to find many treatment programs with Child Care Program and also a licensed detox facility, but we have them here. We are truly a place for new beginnings and we have been that place at this location for 40 years. All those years weve been celebrating thanksgiving with our friends. As evidence of our thanksgiving history, i have these photos. Some of you have already recognized Dianne Finestein before she was mayor. She was on the board of supervisors, i think. Even before that, the gentleman in the middle uniform there is my grandfather who was the executive director here before i was born. So, weve been doing this at least 50 years, a long time. It
One of our biggest pin points or struggles has been with the legislation and the old models of the [inaudible] the regulations and laws which are being slowly worked on through the legal departments and the San Franciscos legal department. But essentially we found the experience through Innovation Office has been driving the initiatives through and helping us develop and the data sets have bon become cleaner. They have become easier for us to use and the process has become a lot more efficient. School. Cool. I was told if you have a question you should line up at that microphone right there. If youre coming up no, he did youant [speaker not understood]. I dont have a question. I wanted to comment on this. I think Something Else is really unique and maybe one of the Untold Stories or not told so much stories about the impact of open data is really the companies that are being formed. And as you mentioned earlier, theyre a Sustainable Company and this is being powered by open data and mo
Fund the position from my salary savings for this current yearv, placing the full salary in the draft budget, for the board then to determine the efficacy of the position in june with some measurements and we will show you in advance to get your approval on. And then come june if the position does not hold as much value as you would expected it to, that salary could be removed from the departments budget. That is a problem i see. Once you hire someone, it is very hard and very difficult to actually not to say that youre going to terminate that position. We can hire them with the expectation that this is a Pilot Program to be determined by the board. Right. I guess the other question that it raises for me is what metrics are we using to say what the value of that extra employee would be for this purpose. And, so, not kind of understanding what those metrics would be would be hard. Would it be the number of engagements that they have, the number of additional legislation that they put ou
