Voices of practitioners around a landmark treaty on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence - Istanbul Convention News Voices of practitioners around a landmark treaty on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence - Istanbul Convention On 11th of May 2021, the Council of Europe, in the framework of the activities carried out under the German Presidency of the Committee of Ministers organised an online event bringing together different perspectives and experiences from a variety of actors fighting violence against women and domestic violence in the Republic of Moldova. The event was held on the occasion of the Istanbul Convention 10th anniversary as a platform to voice opinions and experiences from state institutions and civil society working in Chisinau and in the region.

Attack on sexual and reproductive rights On 21 January, the Honduran Congress approved the first reading of a bill that would reform the Constitution to increase the number of votes needed to change the articles that prohibit abortion and marriage between people of the same sex. If ratified, the bill would effectively block future attempts to decriminalize abortion under any circumstances or to legislate in favour of equal marriage. The bill must be ratified by three quarters of the Congress and will be discussed on 28 January. It is expected to be voted on this same day.
