This International Women's Day (March 8), we shine the spotlight on historical events and inspiring trailblazers that broke glass ceilings in and for Singapore. The oldest school for girls in Singapore - then known as Chinese Girls' School - was founded by missionary Maria Dyer in an effort to save mui tsai (Cantonese for "little sister"), the term for bonded.
