After various social media platforms and organisations took to social media demanding that Kiernan “AKA” Forbes be muted on all radio stations and streaming platforms, the rapper’s father came to his son’s defence saying that his son had been struggling to mourn. There has been a lot of discussion surrounding AKA and Anele “Nelli” Tembe’s relationship since Tembe plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on 11 April. Tony Forbes comes to AKA’s defence Now, according to  Sowetan, Tony on Wednesday 12 May spoke out against calls to #MuteAKA, as investigations continued into the death of Tembe. He said his son had been struggling to mourn properly because of the “damaging public perceptions” about the nature of their relationship with Tembe.

The founder of the movement, Sabrina Walter, told Daily Sun they believed justice must be served.
