Brisbane’s 2032 Olympics bid and its hosting duties for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup present “a golden opportunity” for a 10,000-plus seat stadium to be built in the River City, according to the inaugural coach of Queensland’s A-League soccer team.
Former Queensland Roar coach Miron Bleiberg said his “blood was boiling” after he saw state government funding go to an AFL stadium in Ipswich, which started construction last month, when there was an alternative proposal for a multi-purpose stadium on an existing Brisbane site.
