Wol Maiwen has come a long way since he was the big man at Edward Little High School, leading his team to a Class AA state title in 2018 and being a Maine Mr. Basketball finalist in 2019.
Maiwen went on to play a post-graduate year of basketball at North Hampton Prep before deciding to play at the University of Maine at Orono last season. After playing in just seven games and 67 total minutes, Maiwen entered into the transfer portal. He recently accepted a scholarship offer from Franklin Pierce University.

One former Maine high school basketball standout is leaving the Black Bears program, as freshman Wol Maiwen from Edward Little posted on his social media account he is entering the transfer portal and will leave UMaine.

ALBANY, N.Y. Blanca Millan scored 27 points and Dor Saar broke Cindy Blodgett’s school career record for 3-pointers as Maine extended its women’s basketball winning streak to five with a 63-47 victory Sunday against Albany.
The Black Bears (10-1, 8-1 America East) made four 3-pointers in the first 4:05 and eventually built a 40-24 halftime lead with the help of 14 points by Millan in the second quarter.
