Conservative MP John Redwood in Westminster. Credit: PA. On Twitter, the avid Brexiteer claimed the trading bloc “only believe in international law and rules when it suits them”. Almost 6,000 Wokingham households were claiming universal credit in August 2020 THE number of households claiming universal credit in Wokingham has almost doubled during the Covid-19 pandemic, new government figures show. Preparations for Wokingham elections underway despite pandemic

“That’s the key principle we will be working under.” Under the current plans, polls will close at 10pm on Thursday, May 6, and the votes cast in the borough and town council elections will be counted the following day at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre. The count for the Police & Crime Commissioner vote will take place at the same venue on May 10. “I think it’s almost certain that the costs of running an election during Covid are going to be more expensive, for obvious reasons, than they would be in a so-called normal year,” said Mr Moulton. “I expect that if there are additional costs that local authorities incur through no fault of their own, then typically the government would seek to reimburse them.
