In light of the fiscal enormity – an average of $11,327 spent per student at the SpaRRk Academy, housed at Joe Harris Elementary – and declining enrollment, the Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education voted 4-1 Monday evening to close the K-5 virtual school.
RRPS board members OK 3 elementary facility upgrades
Three City of Vision elementary schools are getting facility upgrades after a school board vote.
Meeting for the fourth time in 22 days, with another meeting slated for this Monday afternoon, the Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education convened for less than 30 minutes last Monday.
The agenda was short: basically, the five-member board quickly approved the minutes of their April 23 and April 26 meetings and OK’d the extension of auditing services provided by Accounting & Financial Solutions for another year.
The board took a little more time to listen to project overviews at three schools Colinas del Norte, Rio Rancho and Martin Luther King Jr. elementaries provided them by Michael Madrid, the district’s purchasing director. Each project included HVAC work, and assorted other projects, such as plumbing, electrical work, demolition and replacement.
