With excessive heat setting in this week, local cooling centers are opening to offer people a way to get out of the dangerous conditions. The Cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove will open three locations starting Wednesday afternoon. In Sacramento they are at the Hagginwood Community Center on Marysville Boulevard and the Hart Senior Center on 27th street. Elk Grove and Cosumnes Community Services District will open a cooling center at the Wackford Community Complex on Bruceville road. All three will be open from noon until 8pm Wednesday through Friday. Masks are required and will be provided for those who don t have one.
