JOHANNESBURG - Wits academics have laid a formal complaint of police brutality at the Johannesburg Central Police Station.
Students have also handed over a memorandum of demands.
They marched to the police station following Wednesday’s demonstrations which claimed the life of an innocent bystander while several students were injured.
Mthokozisi Ntumba was shot dead allegedly at the hands of police using rubber bullets while they were responding to Wits student s protesting in Braamfontein on Wednesday.

JOHANNESBURG - Historical debt has been the hurdle in the way of thousands of students resuming their studies this year but President Cyril Ramaphosa said that his government would not abandon them, reaffirming their right to education.
The president’s comments came on the back of the Wits University student protest. Thursday entered the third day of protest against the exclusion of students who owed tuition fees.

CAPE TOWN - Cabinet said it was deeply saddened by the death of a man who was shot during a protest by Wits University students on Wednesday.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is probing the circumstances of the killing of Mthokozisi Ntumba and visited his home on Thursday morning, along with Police Minister Bheki Cele.
