JACKSON, MI - Increased commodities and raw materials prices are impacting the budget for Jackson Public Schools’ multi-purpose indoor fieldhouse and concessions building project.
The Jackson School Board unanimously approved the $11.25-million project at its Tuesday, May 11 meeting, with the cost coming in $1.25 million above the original budget.
Material costs have gone up in the past couple of months, with three bids coming in significantly higher than anticipated, JPS Superintendent Jeff Beal said. Concrete, electrical work and excavation bids all came in approximately $400,000 over budget, he said.
