Afolayan moved to Indianapolis from Nigeria in 2019 with her husband and two sons, now 9 and 12, to live a life without persecution. Her family is Christian and with the rise of Boko Haram, an Islamist group that has killed thousands of people and displaced millions, Omobola made the decision to come to the United States to find safety and peace.
