(Scott Anderson/Patch) MADISON, WI Applications for up to $420 million of small business grants opened Monday, Gov. Tony Evers announced. The applications will close on 4:30 p.m. on June 7. The grants will provide as many as 84,000 Wisconsin small businesses with annual gross revenue between $10,000 and $7 million with a flat award of $5,000, the governors office said. The new grants will target Wisconsin small businesses, including those that started in 2020, in sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, according to the statement. Individuals and businesses interested in the grant program can find information on the Department of Revenue website.

These grants, which are funded with federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), will provide up to $420 million to as many as 84,000 small businesses around the state.   The program is open to all businesses with revenues between $10,000 and $7 million that opened on or before December 31, 2020.  Every eligible business will receive a grant of $5,000, which can be used for any purpose – such as paying back rent, renovating spaces, hiring staff, etc. The intention is to get our small businesses moving again.
