WISCONSIN RAPIDS – New science labs and school expansions are coming to Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools.
Voters on Tuesday allowed the school district to borrow a combined $44 million during the next five years to update district technology, build new secure entrances at schools, add a gymnasium at THINK Academy in Rudolph and renovate portions of Lincoln High School. Voters approved both questions with about 55% of the vote.
Results remain unofficial until the district verifies them in the coming days.
Wisconsin Rapids Superintendent Craig Broeren previously told the Daily Tribune the referendum questions will not raise taxes. The district recently paid off some of its existing debt and refinanced other debts.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Longtime incumbent city council member Scott Kellogg lost his seat Tuesday in a close race, according to unofficial results.
Matt Zacher beat Kellogg by 10 votes in the contest for the District 3 seat on the council. Ryan Austin defeated Kyle Finup with about 68% of the vote and will succeed District 1 council member Joe Zurfluh, who did not seek reelection this year.
Results are unofficial until election officials finalize them through canvassing.
