Down on the Farm Report: The IceHogs Dropped Their First Two Games

With multiple games getting moved around before they even dropped the puck, the Rockford IceHogs 2021 AHL season got off to a rough start … And then they actually did drop the puck, and it was even rougher. Over the weekend, the team dropped their first two games of the season against the Wolves, falling 5-4 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday. With three assists in Saturday’s loss, veteran defensemen Cody Franson, who was named as an alternate captain (along with John Quenneville), leads the IceHogs in points after their first two games of the year. Blackhawks Super Bowl Party, IceHogs Drop Season Opener, and Other Blackhawks Bullets

•   For me, I think Byfuglien, Toews, and Versteeg would be awesome party-goers. Versteeg would bring his couch commentary skills, Toews just seems like a cool dude to hang out with (but he’d probably bring some kind of vegan veggie dish so, it’s a trade-off), and Big Buff would bring the party to another level. •   In case you missed it, the Rockford IceHogs started the AHL season yesterday afternoon. The IceHogs took on the Chicago Wolves, dropping a 5-4 decision. In the game, Cody Franson had three assists in his return to Rockford, and rookies Wyatt Kalynuk, Chad Yetman, and Matej Chalupa all scored their first career AHL goals.

Getting to Know the 2021 Chicago Blackhawks: Defense

#27 Adam Boqvist – Right Defense •   2019-20 Stats: 4 Goals, 9 Assists, 13 Points, 16:13 TOI •   Contract: Signed through 2021-22, $894,167 AAV, Entry-Level Contract (waivers exempt) •   Synopsis: Starting to get footing at the NHL level. Potential to be the next in line to be Blackhawks’ top defenseman. Lots of offensive potential. Lots of work to do on his defensive skills. Reminds me of Hermey from “Rudolph.” Idk if it’s the Christmas Eve wine or what, but is Adam Boqvist in Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer? pic.twitter.com/or0QbLiSAh #44 Calvin de Haan – Left Defense/Right Defense •   2019-20 Stats: 1 Goals, 5 Assists, 6 Points, 19:55 TOI •   Contract: Signed through 2021-22, $4.55M AAV, Unrestricted free agent upon expiration
