weather story is that christmas week storm we are tracking, but first, let s get to locations in the northeast. we are watching an area of low pressure working northward, bringing a winter mess along the i-95 corridor, dealing with rounds of moderate to heavy rain, so the rain continues to fall in places like boston, but notice where that rain/snow line has set up shop, albany, vermont, new hampshire. into maine, just getting stocked with heavy snow today. a lot of locations have artie picked up over a foot of snow, additional but still to come. that will lead to travel concerns this weekend. be advised. speaking of travel concerns, we are tracking this significant storm system that will be taking shape. unfortunately, that s right in time for when so many of you are going to be headed home for christmas. what we are tracking is an arctic air mass diving southward with an associated cold front. we are going to be dealing with
winter advisories, the winter mess, including the ice storm warnings for sections of south carolina. this is a concern. because those areas could see anywhere from let s say raleigh back down to charlotte, anywhere from a quarter to almost an inch of rain and that s freezing rain. that could lead to the ice accumulations, where the ice that accumulates could ends up being an inch or more causing power lines to fall down, of course, trees to fall down. a lot of folks to lose power. how does the system line up? that s the freezing rain tomorrow morning. again will you wake up in atlanta and charlotte. it will be raining. it will quickly change over to snow. it will move its way up to the north. that s the other problem, because we re looking at heavy amounts of snow. on the east coast, places like new york, philly, boston, probably not going to see much other than rain. take a look at these purple areas, anywhere from six inches to a foot that could be a big
