Its all about the water temperature. The manatees should be doing well now and they have a lot of food to eat in the lake, but the concern is once that water temperature starts to drop below 68 degrees, it can start to hurt the mammals. And thats why in a few hours, were going to see a huge group of environmental officials convene here to try and rescue few manatees that neighbors have spotted swimming around here. They got stuck in the lake after officials let up the floodgate to prevent flooding so now, agencies including fish and wildlife commission, usgs, as environmental workers from uf and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium will be out here at 9 to Work Together to try and rescue the animals.
