Low Interest Rates Continue to Fuel Winona County Home Buying

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Prospective homebuyers are having a hard time finding a home for sale in the Winona area.   During an interview with KWNO last week, Winona County Recorder Bob Bambenek estimated there were roughly 50 homes on the market in Winona County, which says is well below the average of about 200 at any given time. Bambenek says we are seeing history in the making, saying he’s reviewed nearly all of the 1.3 million records at the recorder’s office over the years.  “I saw interest rates from six to 28 percent back in earliest days of the county. Never did I see any at two percent,” said Bambenek. “When they say these are historically low-interest rates, my lifetime work seems to support that.”
