This will be an unseasonably warm day, with the temperature already above freezing and a forecast high about 13 degrees higher than the average for today’s date. The temperature reached 0.7 C on Sunday, the first time Winnipeg had seen above-freezing temperatures since Jan. 20.
The provincial government will begin breaking up ice on the Red River between Selkirk and Netley Creek this week to reduce the likelihood of ice-jam flooding.
