Staff in a Chigwell care home brought together a mum and daughter on Mother s Day to hold each other s hands for the first time in a year.
Winnie Mulgrew, 93, lives at Lambwood Heights in Lambourne Road and had not been able to touch her daughter, Margaret Godfrey, since coronavirus restrictions began last March.
The pair had only been able to meet on either side of a clear screen in the home’s summer house, and Winnie found it difficult to understand why the two of them could not be together.

Year in review: July TV power couple Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan were ordered in July to maintain a public footpath near their home in Ongar. The former Towie star and wife Michelle Keegan were given permission to replace the property they bought near Ongar for £1.3million with a five bed mansion complete with gym, dressing room, makeup room and a bar. The couple were told by the council that a public footpath that runs yards from the property must not be interfered with. A mother and her 92-year-old daughter were reunited following months of Covid-enforced separation.
