ROCKFORD Winnebago County Public Defender David J. Doll will retire on April 23 after serving four years in the role and nearly three decades in the public defender’s office.
Doll primarily works with people connected to sexually violent offenses and supported them as they worked toward rehabilitation, according to Winnebago County Trial Court Administrator Tom Jakeway.
Doll also represented individuals with a history or connection to being trafficked.
“This county has been extremely fortunate to have the benefit of Dave Doll’s service,” said 17th Circuit Court Chief Judge Eugene Doherty said in a news release. “He has ensured that competent and faithful representation was provided by his office as required by our constitutional guarantees. More than that, though, he has been a creative and cooperative partner in creating efficiencies in our system. He really has made his mark.”
