A 10 Investigates’ review of two years’ worth of incident reports and police records has uncovered a pattern of children being hurt, running away and making claims of inappropriate behavior inside Mohican Young Star Academy, a youth treatment center for boys.
The records, submitted to a state licensing agency, detail how children seeking treatment for emotional and behavioral issues have been exposed to violence or injured during restraint holds.

(ASHLAND, Ohio) Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) to remove owners of the Mohican Young Star Academy from operating the facility for improperly restraining youth being treated for mental health issues.
The lawsuit,filed in Ashland County Common Pleas Court, seeks immediate injunction to stop Olga Starr, owner of Mohican Young Star, from operating the facility and transfer operations to a third-party receiver. The motion comes after a state inspection at the youth residential treatment center in Perrysville found numerous reports of resident abuse and a gross lack of reporting of the use of restraints as required by law.

ASHLAND State investigators, citing the use of improper restraint, went to court Wednesday asking a judge to remove the owner of an area youth treatment center and put operation of the facility into a third-party receiver.
A civil lawsuit filed in Ashland County Common Pleas Court by the Ohio Attorney General s Office seeks a temporary restraining order and an immediate injunction against Mohican Young Star Academy owner Olga Starr.
The action follows a state inspection at the residential treatment center in Perrysville, with reports of abuse and a gross lack of reporting of the use of restraints, according to a news release from Attorney General Dave Yost.
