Delta Assembly passes bill to establish 3 new universities

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Delta State House of Assembly has passed the first reading of bills for the establishment of three new universities. The bills are for the creation of Delta State University of Education, Agbor; Delta State University of Science and Agriculture, Asaba; and Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro. The first reading on Wednesday was presented by the Deputy Majority Leader of the Assembly, Oboro Preyor. The motion was unanimously adopted when put to voice vote by the Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori. Pat Ajudua of Oshimili North constituency seconded the motion. NAN reports that the second reading of the bills will come up on February 2.

NUT Orders Edo Pry School Teachers to Shun Feb 1 Resumption Date

By Adibe Emenyonu The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Edo State Wednesday directed all primary school teachers in the state to shun the February 1, 2021 resumption date proposed by the state government. The leadership of the union gave the order in a statement in Benin City, signed by the state Chairman, Mr. Pius Okhueleigbe, and the Assistant Secretary General Moni Mike Modesty Itua, The union had on January 12, 2021 directed all primary school teachers and school heads to embark on an indefinite strike with effect from January 18, 2021 over the inability of government to pay. The union in reaction to the state government’s request to suspend the strike, noted that the state government has not demonstrated any reasonable commitment to resolve the issues presented to it.

School resumption: Shun Obaseki s directive - NUT orders teachers

The Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has ordered all primary school teachers in the state to shun the February 1 resumption date proposed by the state government. The leadership of the union gave the directive in a press statement made available to DAILY POST in Benin City, the Edo State capital. Recall that Pius Okhueleigbe, the State NUT Chairman and Moni Mike Modesty Itua, the Assistant Secretary-General of the union had January 12 directed all primary school teachers and school heads to embark on an indefinite strike with effect from January 18, 2021. The union in reaction to the state government’s request to suspend the strike noted that the state government has not demonstrated any reasonable commitment to resolve the issues presented to it.
