WESTBORO It’s been more than a year since Westboro police Sgt. Jon Kalagher shot and killed a man who was stabbing his wife repeatedly during a domestic attack.
To this day, what gets to Kalagher the most is not shooting the suspect. It is what the victim and the neighbors went through before he arrived.
“The part that has got to me in the past year … is the woman and the neighbors and what they were doing in the 50 seconds as I was trying to get there,” Kalagher told the Daily News, his voice choked with emotion. “I just wanted to get into the arena and try to make a difference. I said to myself, ‘I have the tools and training, please let me get there in time.’”
